On My Way Home

I was hoping to post something about my ISP last week, but due to various circumstances that come with being in Uganda that couldn't happen. My last few days in Gulu also got crazy busy, which I should have expected. To sum up what I was going to post last week, my research is finished! It felt so good to be done. By the end of my work I conducted 8 interviews, one focus group, spent about 18 hours in church and typed 54 pages. It is strange to see one months worth of work printed in a report.

My last few days were spent trying to say goodbye to everyone and everything I'm going to miss. I got to all of my favorite resturaunts one last time and spent some time with my home-stay family. So far my list of things I'm going to miss includes the fruit, break tea, the hospitality, and boda bodas (motorcycle taxis). There is way more I'm going to miss but that#s the short version.

After leaving Gulu we went to the National game park to see some animals. It was a fun vacation before we had to say goodbye, and we lucked out and saw a ton of giraffes. We then drove to Kampala for the last night together.

I am currently in a hotel in London on a layover. I left Kampala at 5:30 this morning and arrived in London at 4:00 this afternoon. If all goes well I will be in Green Bay tomorrow evening. I have mixed feelings about getting home. I'm really excited to see people, but it already feels stenge to be out of Gulu. All I know is coming back into the US is going to seem strange and exciting.
